Let It Go

Sorry...yes I know the song is probably in your head now.  It is constantly in my head since I live with two girls ages 5 and 3.  The movies is constantly playing.

Today's blog is about just that though....letting go.  Letting go of whatever is bothering you.  Frustration.  Addictions.  Anger.  And let in the happiness.  I know this all too well since it is a big part of my writer's block lately.  Frustration is the one for me.

Through my journey with doTERRA I have had far more ups than downs.  My family has experienced so many successes with better health, more joyfulness and even a bit of wealth all thanks to our little bottles of oil.  But I have had my share of lows, mainly frustrations.

I have always been so excited to share my doTERRA with everyone and through that sharing I have been ridiculed by my doctors, called names by "friends" and other "fun" things.  Many have told me they would love to come to my classes then no show.  The most hurtful of all is the "friends" who have called me names thinking they are funny I suppose.  I find it funny they will ask my advice on resturants to schools for their kids, yet the thought of natural alternatives like essential oils evokes calling me a voodoo witch doctor.  hmm....

But, that doesn't stop me.  Why?  I know.  I know the power and change my family has seen and that is all that matters.

It does however wear down my soul a bit and I know that takes a toll on my kindess towards others.  Sharing can become a bit more challenging when you have a touch of fear lurking in the back of your brain hoping you aren't called another name.  Name calling is just so harmful.  Stop it if you do it!

Today, as I am checking out Facebook I find a post by Dr. Susan Lawton.  The "Let It Go" Blend.  She included a quote from Kate Spencer

"Whatever someone has done to you is going to be attracted right back to them at some point.  You are not involved in this process, its simple law of attraction.
Stop carrying it around and let the universe take care of it - good, bad or indifferent. Their stuff, Their lesson. Let it Go."

And a lovely layering of oils to add....Juniper Berry, Geranium and Peppermint.

I saw the post and thought it was just for me.  Selfish, yeah I know but it hit me.  My frustrations were simmering rapidly today.  I did not want a boil over. I needed to let some things go.  So I got myself ready for the day and layered the three oils on my wrist and down the back of my neck.

By the time I sat down to write this, I laughed at myself thinking, now that I am all chilled out, how am I going to get this in a blog.  It worked!  I feel like a happy woman with a great perspective.  I know I can be kind, helpful and the woman I want to be to others.  Not a grumpy old troll!

So if you have things to let go....

1 drop each per wrist of Juniper Berry, Geranium and Peppermint.  Then down the back of your neck and tell yourself a new story of a positive life!

Live a life of abundance and happiness!  A little Wild Orange in your water never hurt either.  :)

Addicted!

I have admitted to all that in my past I was a huge Diet Coke addict.  I would joke to everyone that all I really needed to keep going was an IV of DC to start my day.  One day, long before I was ever introduced to doTERRA I made the decision to kick that habit.  It was tough and here is the blog about it.  One of the best choices I have ever made!

I was addicted!  Addictions come in many shapes and sizes.  The definition to addiction is:

A dependence on a substance or behavior that appears necessary to preserve what appears as normalcy in disregard to the adverse consequences.

TV and Movies often focus addictions on drugs or alcohol but often they can be sugar, food, or other behavioral type things.  One of the most common in our society today caffeine.

Symptoms or side effects of addictions is the feeling of a compelling need to continue the negative activity. This then can lead to feelings of guilt, hopelessness, and anxiety. As addictions are addressed withdrawal symptoms such as cravings, irritability, headaches, nausea, etc. can develop.

In my area, we finally got a Starbucks.  People were celebrating on social media with pictures, countdowns, etc.  It cracked me up but also made me think.  Don't get me wrong, I like a good cup of coffee in the morning.  I also love a great Latte but over the years, I have really cut back on my caffeine intake.  Pregnancy will cause you to cut back since it is reccommended to have no more than 2 cups of coffee per day.  My body adjusted and now I just can't seem to go back to more without feeling really jittery.

According to the Mayo Clinic an average adult will have no adverse affects with moderate caffeine intake.  What is moderate?  200-300 mg or about 2-4 cups of brewed coffee per day.  What does that look like if you aren't a coffee drinker?

Heavy (500-600mg) use can result in a host of unpleasantness.

  • Insomnia
  • Nervousness
  • Restlessness
  • Irritability
  • Stomach upset
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Muscle tremors

So how do you cut back and not feel awful…..well honestly, you probably will have some sluggish days but there are lots of tools to help you.  First, drink a ton of water!  Hydration solves many of life's ailments.  Flavor that water with Grapefruit oil or the Metabolic blend.  These options are also good for those who are sugar addicts as well.  Personally, I use Mito 2 Max as well.  You can take up to 4 per day but I only need 2.  Works great to help feel I have my stamina all day.

Grapefruit oil can help you conquer the cravings of those energy drinks on the market.  They are loaded with lots of junk and can be quite dangerous for you.  I love all the citrus oils in my water.  Just make sure you are using glass or metal containers to drink your citrus water.

Now if you are dealing with another type addiction, there are oils that can help as well.  Laura Jacobs  has some general guidelines for recovery:

The Grounding Blend – restored sense of solidity/grounded in life

Frankincense – restore connection to divine love and acceptance
Peppermint – sense of recovery
The Cleansing Blend – cleansing and detoxifying both physically and emotionally
The Calming Blend – calming and quieting
White Fir – if passed on generation to generation

Adopt the habits and make the choice of a healthy lifestyle!

Your body will thank you….maybe not days 1-3 but it will thank you.
